PaceFinder is a sim racing analytics tool. We collect only what is necessary to provide the service. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than running and improving PaceFinder.

1. Who we are

PaceFinder is an independent project. For privacy questions, contact us via the feedback form inside the app or at hello@pacefinder.app.

2. Data we collect

PaceFinder is a self-hosted app that runs on your machine — your telemetry, race results, and screenshots never leave your computer. What we do collect:

Website analytics — anonymous page views and basic interaction events via Umami Cloud (no cross-site tracking, no personal identifiers, only loaded with your consent).
App usage analytics — the Pacefinder app itself (not this website) can optionally send anonymous usage events: app launches, whether a race session was saved, which app features get used (deep dive, lap compare, AI analysis, and similar), whether telemetry is arriving correctly, and error type/context when something breaks. A periodic background ping reports whether the app is running and capturing data, so we can tell it's alive without knowing anything about what you're doing in it. Never track names, car names, lap times, or any telemetry sample data. Identified only by a random ID generated on your machine, not tied to your identity — on by default, with an off switch in the app's Setup page.
Feedback submissions — messages you submit via the feedback form, including the name and email you provide for follow-up.

3. How we use your data

Your data is used exclusively to:

Understand how the marketing site and the app are used so we can improve them
Respond to feedback you submit

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

4. Data storage and security

App usage analytics events are stored in a Neon Postgres database. Feedback and website analytics are handled by the services listed below.

6. Cookies

We use a minimal set of cookies:

Analytics cookies are only active after you accept.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights including:

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
Deletion — ask us to remove a feedback submission you sent
Objection — opt out of website analytics at any time via the cookie banner, or app usage analytics via the toggle in the app's Setup page

8. Children

PaceFinder is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
